A soul-searching journey into the mountains of Kurdistan by five diverse personalities
joined by a single quest.
"Chaplin of the Mountains" is a road movie with deep symbolic and intellectual undertones,
fusing various cultures and perspectives in a humanistic display.

A road movie about NYU film graduates David and Alan (Zack Gold and Bennett Viso) who roam the Kurdish countryside guided by local TV celebrity, Reboir (Kurdo Galali), to screen Chaplin films in remote villages. At the start of their journey they meet Nazé (Estelle Bajou), a French girl of Kurdish origin who tags along. While David's and Alan's mission is to document the effects of film on people who are new to cinema, Nazé is here for a deeper purpose:  to find her roots. Along the way, Shireen (Taies Farzan), a local journalist and an outspoken women's rights activist, follows the group for a story, but then joins them with a commitment to help Nazé in her quest.

“Chaplin of the Mountains” begins as a humorous and fun journey through breath-taking mountain-scape with engaging dialogue and exciting cultural exchange, but gradually the scars beneath the beauty of the land and the colorful culture come to surface (i.e. the anfal genocide’s effects during which 4500 authentic villages were destroyed by the former Iraqi regime in 1987-88).
